"The education of all children...must always be a national priority. One of the most important goals of my Administration is ...a system of public education where no child is left behind. Unfortunately, among those at greatest risk of being left behind are children with disabilities."

POAC’s “The Difference” Newsletter about Verbal Behavior

The educational model of ABA using a Verbal Behavior approach is being implemented throughout the country in both public and private school settings. To meet our mission of providing parent and professional training at little or no cost, we will be replicating the Verbal Behavior Network (VBN) training model created by Parents of Autistic Children in New Jersey.

POAC's VBN training model provides training and support for professionals in New Jersey to learn how to teach Verbal Behavior to children with autism. Some of these professionals eventually become "home-grown" board certified behavior analysts within their own school districts. The education and training needed is funded by POAC. These professionals then further the model by training parents and other professionals in their area through frequent workshops on topics most relevant to teaching children with autism.

Benefits:
  • Parents and Professionals learn how to utilize ABA principles that emphasize the teaching of verbal behavior

  • Administrators learn how to save money and improve outcomes by "home growing" their experts

This model has proven very successful in New Jersey, and is now being replicated in Massachusettes and Pennsylvania. By providing a similar model here in North Texas, we can offer an affordable resource for parents and professionals to learn how to implement this same educational approach for their own children and students with autism.

If you are interested in helping us fundraise to replicate this training model, or have ideas for future training workshops, please contact us.
